Happy Mothers Day...
Being a mother means seeing the axis of your world change. It means having one or more hearts beating out of your chest. It is more than loving deeply. It is knowing how to love someone more than yourself. It is much more than learning and teaching about unconditional love. It is to be the example of that love.
It is discovering that you know more than you could imagine. And, at the same time, discover that you often know nothing. It is realizing that what you have learned does not always work. And reinvent yourself. Being a mother is, without a doubt, reinventing yourself.
It is to understand that your strength, flexibility and endurance are far greater than you might believe. It is discovering that motherhood requires all of this, without you planning. It is getting to know yourself in a way you could never imagine.
It is to find the direction, even when there is no clarity to see. It is believing that you are on the right path or, at least, always trying to get it right. It is seeing more of you in the world. And wanting to see everything improve.
Being a mother is encounter, communion, multiplication.
But it is also often to feel lost. How can I not?
It is to realize that your plans are no longer in your hands.
It is wanting to create good, just, humane people. It is trying to understand, without judging. It is knowing how to value being infinitely more than having it. It is to give value to the essence. Know how to care and know how to preserve.
Being a mother is being able to be corny, tacky and tacky, even when you're chic. You can shout: “Beautiful”, in the middle of the crowd. Or every achievement. It is realizing that you carry a trophy inside your chest. It is to repeat the screams of “bravo!”. And see that you are more like your own mother than you could imagine. To be a mother is to overturn censorship!
It is also losing patience when going to sleep. And then, come back to admire. It means being ugly, tired, impatient or stressed and yet not being charged. Better: and be loved. It is knowing how to recognize that, even imperfect, the greatest love in the world, for a good part of life, will be for you.
It's worrying. If you see lioness to protect. Or to fight. And yet, knowing how to forgive. Everything, without planning. It is recognizing and teaching that doing justice with your own hands is not enough. Being a mother is learning to ponder. And it is also always being able to put yourself in another place.
It's about changing plans, giving up dreams ... And not caring. It is discovering that, with healthy and safe children, you can always dream. Being a mother is losing. And, at the same time, it's winning!
Being a mother means knowing the greatest happiness that exists in the world without having to achieve anything else. For those who wished, being a mother is, without a doubt, the greatest wealth there is.
